Sandblasting is the process of shaping, flattening, or cleaning a surface such as a roof or patio using a coarse material such as sand to mold and smooth the surface. Today many different particles are used, including glass beads, copper slag, steel shots, and other abrasive materials. Sandblasting can be performed on a variety of surfaces, including, stucco, glass, wood, or stone. Because the dust particles caused by sandblasting can be hazardous to your health, it should only be performed by a commercial company with professional workers, and in a safe, well-ventilated environment. Though it requires expensive equipment, sandblasting can be used as a cleaning method, or to etch designs into glass or another material.
