Spray painting and finishing is painting or finishing an object using a device that sprays the paint or finishing substance. There are several different technologies for doing this. The most common type in the consumer market is an aerosol can of spray paint, in which the paint is purchased already in a can equipped with an aerosol sprayer. For semi-professional spray painting and finishing, there are a variety of hand-held sprayers that either combine the paint or finishing substance with air, or convert it to tiny droplets and accelerate these out a nozzle. For professional spray painting and finishing, common methods include air compressors and specialized equipment to spray the substance onto an object. This method is often used at auto body shops to paint cars.
