People who want professional guidance in investment decisions will often consult with stock and bond brokers. Stock and bond brokers usually have the experience and background to assess a client's financial situation and advise them on a variety of investments. Although not required, most stock and bond brokers, especially those at larger institutions, are college educated with degrees in business administration, economics, and finance. Some stock and bond brokers work in small family run businesses, while other stock and bond brokers work for large nationwide financial institutions. In either case, a stock or bond broker must meet state licensing requirements and be registered with the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. (NASD).
