When installing telecommunications wiring and cabling systems in buildings, it is important to understand the different cable types, ratings and standards. Communications cable is primarily used for telephone systems. Class 2 cable is signaling cable primarily for data communications. Fiber Optic cable is a transparent thin fiber, usually made of glass or plastic, for transmitting light, and can be used as a medium for telecommunication and networking because it is flexible and can be bundled as cables. Twisted pair cabling is a common form of wiring in which two conductors are wound around each other for the purposes of canceling out electromagnetic interference which can cause crosstalk.
