Want to see the right movie in the right theater?
Many movie theaters are owned by movie theater chains. Some of these chains are local and some are national. Many of these movie theater chains have frequent customer programs that offer rewards, such as free popcorn or other concessions to customers who often frequent their theaters. If you desire to know more about these programs, call the theaters to find out about them. If you are a member of such a program, it may pay dividends to search for a theater owned by the company to whose program you belong. Most theaters will state in their newspaper advertisements and on-line listings the company which owns them.
Another factor in determining what theater you will go to is the location of the theater. Newspaper listings can provide you with the addresses of movie theaters. On-line sites can provide you addresses as well as maps to the theaters you are considering. Parking can also be a factor. If you are thinking about going to a theater in a central business district or another area where parking is at a premium, it is smart to call the theater and ask where it is best to park. Often theaters in downtown areas will validate parking at certain nearby parking garages.
Finally, it is wise to inquire as to the facilities that a movie theater has. Often theaters will advertise stadium seating and the sound system used at the theater. It is a good bet that newer theaters - and those that have stadium seating - will have newer projection equipment and newer sound systems. If it is important to you that you see your film on the biggest and best screen possible, you should probably call the theaters you are considering and asking them what size of screen they are showing your film on.
Price is another major factor in determining what theater to attend. Theater prices can be found out by calling the theater. Often movie theaters will have discounted matinee showings. Prices in certain markets do not tend to vary much from theater to theater, however, it is probable that theaters in downtowns, central business districts, and other areas will be slightly more expensive than those in the suburbs and outlying neighborhoods.
Once you find out what theaters are showing the movie you want to see; the times they are showing the movie; the location of the theater; the theater's parking situation; the company that owns the theater; and the theater's ticket price, you should be ready to make an informed decision as to where to go.

Even with the proliferation of home video and other ways to view movies, many people still choose to go to a movie theatre to view films because of the unique experience it offers. Movie theatres, or cinemas, will often contain comfortable, stadium style seating, large, air-conditioned theatres, and a variety of refreshment to enhance the movie-going experience. First run movie theatres are usually the only way to see a film during its initial release and usually offer a variety of mainstream films from major motion picture companies. After their initial release, most movies will then be shown at second-run theatres at a discount price.
