Tobacco is a broad leafed plant that is often dried or cured for the purpose of smoking or chewing. Tobacco is most commonly smoked in the form of a cigarette, in which dried tobacco leaves are rolled up in a thin piece of paper, although tobacco will sometimes be chewed. Tobacco leaves contain the powerful nuerotoxin, nicotine, which can be absorbed into the bloodstream by the tobacco user and which will often produce a pleasant feeling in the user. Nicotine is an extremely addictive substance, and along with the carcinogenic properties of tobacco smoke, has been found to cause serious health risks in users.
