Labs that specialize in medical tests on animals and in analyzing medical samples from animals are veterinary laboratories or veterinary labs. Some veterinary laboratories specialize in running tests on animals, such as a veterinary x-ray lab. Other veterinary laboratories specialize in analyzing samples for animals, such as a lab that specializes in analyzing animal blood tests, animal semen or animal DNA. Some veterinary laboratories can run tests on or analyze samples from all kinds of animals. Other veterinary laboratories specialize in running tests on or analyzing samples from a particular kind of animal, such as an equine laboratory. Some veterinary laboratories specialize in testing samples from or running tests on livestock animals such as hogs, cattle and sheep while other labs mostly run tests on and test samples from pets like cats and dogs.
