Wineries are places where wine is made. There are wineries in most every state although some states have many more than others. Some wineries are on the grounds of vineyards while others are not. Some wineries offer tours to the public. Some wineries are relatively small operations that produce a few types of wine. Other wineries are very large operations that mass-produce wine. Some small wineries make very high-end wines. Many larger wineries mostly make affordable wines or table wines. Some wineries concentrate on producing just a few varieties of wine and others produce just one variety of wine. Other wineries produce many varieties of wine such as chardonnay, pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, Chianti, zinfandel Riesling and cabernet blanc. The type of wine produced by a winery is largely contingent on the types of grapes grown in the region.
