Domestic violence usually follows a pattern. Domestic violence situations can escalate quickly. It also has a huge affect on kids that witness the abuse. If allowed to continue, violence may lead to a battered woman's death. The surviving children have a high risk of neglect and child endangerment. If any of these stages fit your situation, contact an emergency shelter for spousal abuse immediately. The first part of abuse involves tension. In many relationships, arguments center on issues like drinking, family, finances or jobs. Verbal mistreatment comes first and quickly escalates. In an abusive situation, the victim will do everything possible to avoid confrontation, but physical behavior usually occurs, as this phase concludes. Physical violence is the second stage. When anger and rage reach the apex, the abusive party will relieve tension through any physical means possible. This is a crisis stage. Uncontrolled emotion puts you in danger. Get protection from an abuse help center immediately. The final stage of abuse is where apologies are exchanged. The abusive party will claim to not know what came over them. They make promises and often purchase gifts to show how sorry they are. The victim truly believes things are over and believes the promise that it will never happen again. In many cases, the victim actually believes they are to blame. It's urgent to leave. If the abusive party is agreeable, counseling and anger management treatment can help. Therapy programs should be extensive and require the abuser to remain out of any relationship until counselors are certain new behaviors are mastered. You may need assistance finding a facility. Police can help provide information and assistance. You'll go to a safe haven for single and battered parents. Volunteer shelters offer prevention counseling, job information and a safe home for women who are abuse survivors.
