High prices are often paid for the right piece of pottery, chair, map, or ring. In order to better understand this unique business, it is helpful to take a look at the definitions listed below.

  • Appraise – To assess the value of something. This is often based on quality, condition, age, and how rare the item is.
  • Antique – This is basically a collectable object of considerable age, such as a glass table, desk, mirror, or piece of old furniture.
  • Vintage – A past time or era in which something was made. This can refer to wine, jewelry, clothing, lamps, clocks, and even books.
  • Antique Dealer – A professional that specializes in the collection and sales of vintage and rare objects. These experts typically own or work in a store or shop that offers various pieces of furniture, jewelry, books, and vintage clocks.
