Auto Alignment Frame and Axle Service Terms to Know

It's important that vehicles are in their best condition in order to safely operate them. Anytime the wheels are out of line or there is a problem with the axle, it is going to make steering more difficult and create a hazard on the road. This needs to be repaired immediately. The axle and tires can be nudged out of alignment when people get into an accident or run over a curb. Anytime a vehicle is having problems, it can be serviced at an auto body shop. The technicians at a body shop will troubleshoot a vehicle and make estimates on the cost and time it will take to be repaired and driving like brand new.

  • Front Axle - The front axle is the crossbeam that supports the weight of an automobile or truck.
  • Rear Axle - The rear axle is designed to connect the real wheels to the crossbeam.
  • Wheel Alignment - Wheel alignment is when auto body professionals make adjustments to a vehicle to ensure the tires are calibrated to the proper position. When the wheels are aligned, it makes a vehicle easier to steer and prevent the tires from wearing out.

    When an auto frame or axle is out of alignment, this causes other problems that need to be addressed. Wheels, frames, and axles sometimes need to be readjusted or repositioned in order to get the car back on track. Sometimes, this service needs to be done in response to a motor vehicle accident that knocks the alignment off, and other times, it's just a good idea to have this checked periodically as a precautionary measure. Most auto body shop mechanics can provide this service. They may also be able to repair the engine, transmission, brakes, and suspension. Some mechanics specialize in front and back end alignment and frame straightening. They can tell customers if the frame has been bent, if the tires need rotating, or if an irregular axle needs to be balanced. This is often routinely checked as part of an oil change, inspection, or general scheduled maintenance. Frames and axles that are out of alignment can be dangerous, so this needs to be fixed immediately. At the very least, it can cause unusual wear and tear on the tires and other systems. Customers may require new parts or just some adjustments. When the suspension and steering systems aren't operating at the correct angles, this can cause uneven wear on the parts. So how do you know when your axle or frame needs adjustment? You should be able to tell simply by driving on the roadways. The steering mechanism may pull slightly in one direction, but there could be other indications.
