Types of Bathroom Sinks

When most people remodel their bathroom, they spend most of their energy trying to find the perfect tub. Once the spa tub is picked, however, there are still important style choices to make. One of the most used fixtures in a bathroom is the sink and faucet. Below you will find a discussion of the various types of sinks available.

  • Console Table – This type of sink has a large surface area and is held up by either decorative brackets or legs. The positive aspects of this accessory include the immense counter space and open feel. The downside is that there is no enclosed storage space.
  • Vanity – This category includes sinks that are installed in cabinets. This option is great if you are looking for the maximum amount of counter space and storage underneath. Because of the way it is designed, it can be used with almost all types of faucets.
  • Pedestal – This choice is often used in smaller bathrooms or by homeowners trying to achieve a vintage look. It consists of a basin atop of a single pedestal leg. Little to no counter space with this option and no storage.
  • Wall Mount – A sink that is attached directly to the wall without any support below it. By choosing one of these, you can decrease the amount of area you have to clean. You also have room to add additional storage if desired.
  • Vessel – This is similar to a vanity fixture, but the main different lies in where the sink is places. With a vessel sink, the basin sits on top of the counter, not flush with the surface. This accessory is both modern and unique.
