  • Bareboating – In the charter boat trade, bareboating is the practice of renting a vessel that does not come with a hired crew. This may be attractive if, for example, you wish to have dinner onshore in the area you are touring instead of paying for meals as part of the charter fee.
  • Boat Rental – The process of renting vessels such as water canoes, day sailors and jet skis, usually by the day.
  • Charter Package – A charter package means that crew, meals and refreshments are included in the overall rental price.
  • Chartering – The trade of chartering refers to renting yachts for boating vacations.
  • Cockpit – This is the area of the sailboat with the steering wheel, a sunken seating area, and a rear area for fishing or dining.
  • Dive Boat – Popular among honeymooners and vacationers, a dive boat is a vessel that you hire specifically to snorkel or scuba dive. It will often include a crew of professional divers to teach you the ropes.
  • Motor Boat – A motor yacht moves through the water thanks to an engine rather than sails.
  • Sleep Aboard – Charter services often let you “sleep aboard” the vessel at the company’s dock the night before you sail.
  • Yacht – A yacht is a recreational luxury vessel used for such purposes is throwing sea parties, sightseeing, sailing and fishing. Yachts come in the form of motor boats and sailboats.
