Strategy can be essential, so have several methods on the burner in case your first choice is overridden by other board members. Base your plan on solving a problem rather than creating something neat.

Tip #3: Be driven, but realistic.
Business development calls for a certain amount of boldness, but there are also parts of the market and industry that are beyond your control. Work with the market rather than against it.
