FAQs About Child Abuse Services
The following questions are commonly asked about child abuse services:

How do child abuse services prevent child abuse?
Child abuse services are used whenever a case of child abuse is suspected. Police intervention is used to take the child from the home and inspect him or her both physically and mentally for signs of physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. If there is significant evidence that the child is being abuse, the parent will be charged with child abuse and no longer allowed to have custody of the child.

What happens to a child that is a victim of child abuse?
The state tries to find someone to take custody of the child. However, depending on how brutal the child abuse was, the child may have special needs which makes placing the child difficult. Extended family members sometimes take custody, but the state is required to do extensive background checks and follow up appointments to make sure the child is happy in their new home. If no family members are found who can take the child, then the child passes into state custody and is usually placed with foster parents.

What are the signs of child abuse?
No single sign is representative of child abuse, but instead it is a combination of factors. Children tend to fall and get hurt, but repeated signs of bruising combined with behavioral changes is often a sign of physical abuse. Sexual abuse and emotional abuse are both harder to detect, though in both instances, the child’s emotional behavior will also change in response to the abuse. Call your local child abuse prevention hotline if you suspect a child is being abused or you want to learn the common signs of abuse.

By using the following guidelines you should be able to find the child abuse organization that is best for you. Some children need assistance getting out of family situations that involve physical, emotional or sexual abuse. They might also need the help of a network or child abuse organization for abuse prevention services. In order to find the organization that can give you all of the services and products that you need, you should ask several questions. Using the Internet, type in key words to return a list of related companies. Organizations that have several years of experience can often offer you better services and more products than those that have fewer years of experience, so ask the organizations how long they have been in business. Asking them for references and if they are affiliated with any other companies or organizations can also help you determine how reliable the companies will be. Customer service is also very important. In order to determine how much importance the organizations place on their clients, you should ask the companies what levels of customer service they can offer you. So whatever child abuse service you need, make sure to choose a company specializing in your area of need.
