Civic Organizations
There are many types of civic organizations that provide services to their members or organize volunteers to help needy people. Many of the groups are professional clubs that only allow members that meet certain criteria. For instance, an organization might only allow members that have served in the military or attended a certain school. The goals of civic organizations are as varied as the types of groups. Many of them exist to provide needy people with the help that they need. The group might focus on helping homeless people find places to stay or provide mental health counseling to people that do not have insurance. The volunteers at these charity organizations work together, with local businesses, and other nonprofits to improve the community. Some social groups, however, serve as networking opportunities for members. Joining a professional association gives the members numerous opportunities to meet other people with similar interests. Even though the clubs might volunteer at charity centers and hold charity drives, they also offer members networking advantages. Civic organizations often meet in offices, homes, and community centers. Finding the location of their next meeting is not always easy since they might move from place to place. You can use a search engine to locate their web pages, though, which should provide contact information for the group. The web sites might also have information about the groups social, environmental, and community goals. After reading through the web sites, you should have a better understanding of what the groups stand for so that you can pick one that fits your interests.

Civic organizations are local, national or international groups or associations dedicated to promoting all aspects of civic life. Such organizations are usually nonprofit association groups that provide a network of social, environmental, business, health, office, professional and home and family service, usually to benefit a charity of some sort, such as the homeless. Many civic organizations rely on volunteer helpers to organize fundraising events, club meeting times, office hours and other business matters. Such nonprofit organizations are often funded with state or national grants, allowing for the association to provide a valuable service to the community, whether through environmental work, social network, counsel services and social and business outlets. You can find civic organizations near you by looking in your local phone book or by searching online directory listings. Whether you want information on national civic organizations or local civic organizations, you can find what you're looking for on the Internet. Do a search for the exact type of civic organization or center you're interested in and go from there. Are you interested in counsel services, social outlets, business contacts meeting facilities, or charity work? Do your research and contact a few different civic organizations you feel would be a good fit. Most civic organizations have websites you can browse for more information. Such associations can offer helpful links and newsletters, hints on how to choose a civic organization, business guides, industry news, member associations, how-to-join guidelines, and business listings of civic organizations in your community. You can call your local town hall to get more information on civic association organizations in your area, such as office chair contact information.
