Coffee Shops Terms
With all the different drinks served in coffee shops, it can sometimes be intimidating trying to choose one. Below are the most common coffee drink terms:

Espresso: A highly concentrated coffee drink that has a very high amount of caffeine. Because its caffeine content is so strong, espresso is often served in very small sizes. A double shot of espresso simply means that two shots of espresso are used in the drink, since espresso is often the basis for other coffee drinks.

Americano: A single shot of espresso mixed with around 7 ounces of water. It is interesting to note that the Americano got its name from Europeans who believed that Americans could not handle pure espresso shots.

Cappuccino: A drink that uses espresso, steamed milk and frothed milk in equal parts. A cappuccino is creamier than most coffee drinks and flavors are usually added it to, like cinnamon or vanilla.

Caffe Latte: Similar to a cappuccino, the café latte uses espresso mixed with steamed milk. The ideal ratio should be three parts steamed milk to one shot of espresso.

Frappe: In the tradition of iced coffee, frappes are usually popular in the summer months. Original frappes use a cold espresso shot, but some coffee shops may use instant coffee instead with sugar, water and ice. When it is mixed together, it looks like a coffee milkshake. The frappe originated in Europe and Latin America, but is now highly popular in America.

Mocha: The mocha is either a caffe latte or a cappuccino with chocolate milk added into the mix. This makes this drink taste like chocolate.
