Computer equipment dealers are responsible for supplying computer devices in business settings. They will provide the necessary hardware and software components to connect to the internet, network and communicate within and outside of the workplace. Computer support specialists may also be employed by a company full-time to help with daily office operations and to troubleshoot and diagnose problems. To maintain systems, specialists will need to upgrade programs and parts periodically to keep up with the latest technology. While helping employees are troubleshooting equipment, specialists will need to have strong communication skills and follow certain protocols to decipher the exact problem that is occurring before making the necessary adjustments and repairs.

  • Motherboard - The motherboard is the central circuit board that makes up a computer. This device is responsible for connecting a variety of components, including the memory card, disk drive, keyboard and display screen.
  • Computer Configuration - A computer configuration describes the way a system is set up. This includes both the hardware and software and focuses on the equipment and programs used to optimize performance in the workplace.
  • Microprocessor - The microprocessor is the part that controls the logic in computer systems.

If, however, your hardware is completely shot, or you're dealing with a major tech problem, you may have to purchase a new computer after all.
