Who doesn't like to dress up? From Halloween parties to school plays, masquerade and theatrical costumes provide endless entertainment for young and old alike. Masquerade and theatrical costume companies sell Halloween and novelty costumes, along with all the necessary accessories available for purchase or a rental. These accessories can range from hats and wigs to jewelry and boas. Most also offer a full line of costume makeup, shoes, decorations, and masks. Mardi Gras is one event that certainly requires lots of costumes. Masquerade balls, Broadway musicals, carnivals, and comedy shows also showcase costumes, from the wild to the tame. Masquerade and theatrical shops usually pop up around Halloween time, offering seasonal sales of costumes for the October holiday. Other shops are around all year long, offering products for anything from a party to an opera theater performance. Retailers get their rental and purchase supplies from wholesale providers, when they need to replenish or restock their costume and accessories. People can find masquerade and theatrical costumes at their local mall, through mail order catalogs, or online providers, who may offer custom patterns as well. Department stores also may have a section devoted to costumes for kids to play dress-up in every day of the year. Masquerade and theatrical costume dealers often sell a broad range of men's, women's, kids', and even pets' character costumes. Themes can range from pirates and princesses to monsters and Mardi Gras outfits. They can be funny, such as for a comic, or they can be scary, such as a mummy. A high-end theatrical and masquerade costume company may offer dresses and outfits for classical shows, operas, plays, balls, and theater performances. You'll find high-quality outfits here, usually at a higher price tag, than, say, at a cheap seasonal Halloween store selling kids' and adult costumes.
