Eye Care

People who go into an eye care facility are usually doing so because they are having an irritating problem with their vision. Whether it is blurred vision, a twitching eye, or even a lazy eye, examination and treatment from an eye care professional will always help and these are some basic terms used when dealing with one.

  • Conjunctivitis – This eye infection, also known as pink eye, can be treated in a couple of different ways. It can either have a topical cream applied under the eyelid or eye drops can be used. The infection causes swelling, irritation, dryness, and other problematic symptoms.
  • Irritated Eye – This is usually caused by dryness and can be fixed with tear drops or special lubricant drops. There can be a multitude of causes, though, so be sure to visit a doctor if you experience this over a few days.
  • Contact Lenses – An alternative to glasses, contacts are discreet, eyeball sized lenses that are place over the center of your eye and produce the same result as glasses as they are also made to a specific prescription.
  • Prescription – This is determined by an ophthalmologist or qualified optometrist in order to identify the vision corrections that need to be made in the patient.
  • Optometrist – An optometrist is someone who performs basic eye exams and reports the results to the doctor who will treat you afterwards.
  • Lasik Surgery – An eye surgery using lasers that is supposed to correct the vision of the patient. While the operation is relatively safe, if the patient’s vision isn’t terrible, then they might not want to risk undergoing laser surgery.
