Tips for Attending a Festival
Whether you are going to a cultural festival, music festival, or art festival, here are some general tips that will help to ensure your trip is a fun one:

Tip #1: Bring cash.
At a festival, gala, or carnival, you will often find that there are many vendors of all types. Due to the logistical reasons of selling goods in the great outdoors, some of these vendors may not accept credit cards as payment. Since most of us rely upon debit or credit cards to make purchases, be sure to stop at an ATM before entering the festival grounds. Even if there is an ATM available at the venue, the usage fee may be significantly higher than if you were to go to your local bank branch. When possible, get small bills to prevent wiping out the change drawer of the vendors.

Tip #2: Research the venue a bit before going.
A large part of the planning process for the festival can depend upon the venue itself. For example, are there paved paths? Or, does this event take place on a mountainside or park? Knowing this before hand can help you determine things such as the type of footwear you should bring, whether strollers will navigate the grounds easily, and even how much walking you should be prepared to do.

Tip #3: Prepare for the weather.
The weather the day of the festival will be an issue, of course, but also keep in mind that of the previous day. Mud and puddles may require you to wear rain boots or other practical footwear.

If you are hosting a festival, art fair, or other event, then you might want to contact a company that can help you find an appropriate venue. There are many things to consider when you select a venue. Not only will you need to consider whether you want a place that can serve beer, wine, and food at your event, you also need to make sure that there is enough room and that the area is conducive to the type of film fair, music fest, or book reading that you are having. You would not want to host a book reading or film fest in a place that can be noisy, but that might be the perfect atmosphere for a music festival. When you contact the company, ask them if they have any venues that are right for you. Be sure to tell them what type of event you are planning so they will have a good idea of what type of community center, religious center, or theater you need. Be sure to give them a few specifics. If you are hosting a quiet jazz concert, then you probably need a different venue than a rock show. If you are hosting a Greek cultural event, you similarly might want a different place than if you are holding a religious winter or summer service. When you have found a few places that are right for your parades, art fairs, film festivals, renaissance clubs, or other events, then ask them how much they charge to make sure you can afford it.
