Important Terms to Know about Fishing Tackle
The following terms could help you decide what kind of fishing tackle and services will work well for you:

Sinker: A weight that goes on the end of a fishing line. This pulls the lure down into the water. Sinkers come in various weights that can help control how deep the lure sinks. Since many fish live at specific freshwater and saltwater levels, it is important to choose an appropriate sinker for the kind of fish you want to catch.

Waders: Waders are waterproof pants that help fishermen stay dry in the water. Many of them use suspenders so they do not restrict the fisherman's movement. That also means one size will generally fit the average person. Some waders also have chest protection that keeps more of the body dry.

Fly Lures: Artificial bait used while fly fishing. There are literally thousands of different designs, many of which are supposed to mimic the behavior and appearance of prey. This attracts fish and encourages them to take the bait.

Killing Fly: An artificial fly lure that is extremely successful at catching fish.

Reel: A mechanical device attached to a fishing pole that allows the fisher to lengthen and shorten the fishing line. While reels are not a necessity, the vast majority of fishers use them because they offer much more flexibility than fixed-line poles.

Angling Lines: Cords that connect the fishing poles to their hooks. Angling lines vary by breaking strength and knot strength. Fishing for bass, for instance, does not require as strong a line as fishing for marlin. Using the wrong kind of line could mean fish escape after they have taken the bait.

If you are interested in fishing for saltwater or freshwater fish like bass, carp, pike, salmon, and trout, then you need to make sure that you have the right tackle. There are many retailers listed in the online directory that can sell you the fishing tackle that you need for your next trip, but you might have a hard time deciding which ones are right for you because there are so many to choose from. We provide these guidelines to help you determine which retailers have the lures, reels, rods, lines, hooks, ice boxes, and bait that you need for freshwater or saltwater fishing. When you first contact the shops, you will want to determine how much experience they have by asking them how long they have been in business. When you choose an old shop that has lots of experience, you can get the best advice on the tackle that you need for bass, salmon, and trout. Ask the retailers if they have an online catalog so that you can look at the bait that they have for sea and lake fishing. If you are interested in fly fishing, then you will need to make sure that they have the rods and lures that are best for that style. If you plan to fish in the surf, though, you will need to get the tackle that is appropriate for that environment. Ask the stores if they give discounts for large purchases. If you can get discounted prices, then you might be able to save quite a bit of money.
