Good Terms for Garden Centers

Garden centers can provide everything you need to landscape your lawn. From seeds to flower bulbs to furniture, they can supply it all. Gardening takes specific tools that are not often available at general retail stores. To make your lawn really stand out, you may even want unusual or exotic plants. Here are some good terms to know when shopping at a garden center.

  • Fertilizer - When growing any kind of plant, you will probably need fertilizer. This supply adds nutrients to the soil, allowing you to raise things to be much healthier. Trees, flowers and vegetables all benefit from fertilizer.
  • Botanical garden - These generally display many types of plants, often labeled, and are particularly popular in a nursery. They allow you to see what a plant will look like when it matures at home.
  • Nursery - Another name for a garden center.
  • Shrub - A small bush. Shrubs look good, and are traditionally used to line homes or other areas.
  • Landscaping - This involves a variety of things, but to landscape is to mold your yard into an aesthetic appealing to you. This may involve fountains, plants, or sculpture.
  • Mulch - An organic material spread over the ground. Typically it is used to lock in moisture and prevent erosion.
  • Aerating - Your plants do need oxygen in their soil as well. By aerating your lawn, you pull up plugs, loosening the soil and allowing air to get to roots. This will lead to healthier, greener grass. Aerating is done with a specific tool that can be operated without gas or electricity.

Garden centers are businesses that offer a broad selection of tools, supplies, and soil materials to help people landscape yards with plants and flowers. These nursery locations and landscaping centers are located all over the United States, and in many other parts of the world. Regardless of what businesses and residential home owners are looking for in regards to landscaping, fountains, gardens and trees, there is likely a nursery or plant store that offers just what they need. The garden center and nursery business is a grand one to say the least. Some of the more common items sold at these locations are small trees, fertilizer sprays, cheap fence wire, fountain statues, and shed tools. Maybe you require a rake or hoe to plant flowers and vegetables in your backyard. A common garden center typically offers these products. Then again, a homeowner may need a trellis for growing certain flowers, or a shovel to plant a large tree. Regardless, many home and garden centers provide consumers with anything from potting soil, common yard tools, and bark mulch to stone fountain accents, plant seeds, and decorative gravel. There is likely one or more nursery and garden supply store locations in your area. To learn more about potting soil, tools to landscape with, unique plants, and fertilizer sprays, get in touch with local experts. This way you can ask questions that pertain to your needs in particular. Feel free to make any inquiries that concern gardening and landscaping, as this is an excellent way to learn.
