Thinning hair, alopecia and other issues can be embarrassing and frustrating. Fortunately there are a wide range of professionals offering restoration services, vitamins and other treatment available for such conditions. If you suffer from hair loss there are professionals are available who can assess the cause of the thinning and determine the best solution. Here are some different terms to know if you are considering a hair treatment.

  • Alopecia – Alopecia is a condition which causes hair loss on the head and other parts of the body. This is an autoimmune disorder which can be treated by a doctor and healed within about a year for the average patient. Growing back hair takes time but is possible.
  • Keratin- Keratin is the fibrous protein which forms hair. Some restoration treatments include keratin in the product. Keratin can strengthen and thicken hair. Shampoos, vitamins and other products can be fortified with keratin to get the nutrients to your scalp.
  • Follicular Unit Extraction – Follicular Unit Extraction is a hair loss replacement procedure. This procedure involves taking hairs, follicles and all, from one part of the scalp and transferring them to a balding area. This procedure should only be completed by a trained and qualified technician. The process is mildly invasive and can be completed by a machine or by a human using a specialized tool.
  • Laser Combs – Laser combs are used to promote the growth of hair. The laser is a specialized, non-invasive, light wave which stimulates the circulation of the scalp speeding up the hair regrowth process. This procedure is popular for people who have hair falling out.

    Most people care for their hair with simple shampoo and conditioner. However, sometimes there are significant problems with attaining desired hair care. Women may generally focus more on certain styling techniques. The most common concern is thinning hair and hair loss. Hair growth improvement and replacement has come a long way since the traditional toupee. Individuals who want to prevent their loss from sight, might prefer wigs. A hair transplant is performed by taking hair follicles from parts of the head that are resistant to balding and transporting them to the top of the scalp. This is a fairly drastic treatment that has varying results for patients. There are various ointments and treatments for hair growth, which also vary per person but usually work fairly well. There are still other treatments. For example, many people use conditioners containing vitamins and other natural products such as keratin to improve the shine and volume of their hair. Organic shampoos are becoming more popular. Some products are intended to fix damage, cover gray, or to make hair less dry or less oily. Depending on current trends, treatments are used to either curl or straighten hair. This might involve the use of heated irons or chemicals that change the shape, and is done either in a salon or at home. For a less dramatic option, gels and mousses are used to temporarily hold hair in a specific style. Dyes are used to change hair color, whether temporarily or permanently. In most cases, dyes are used for cosmetic reasons. Finally, in some cases, treatments such as lasers are used to remove undesired hair. Laser removal services are popular among women.
