Handwriting Experts
A person’s handwriting can tell a lot about them. It can speak volumes about their personality, but also about their interactions with others. Handwriting experts can analyze the loops and whirls of a person’s handwriting, shedding light on identification and document forgery. These experts may work with law enforcement to research stolen identity cases. Many work for themselves as consultants, but some work for a firm or a company. Handwriting analysis can also be for fun. You may be curious as to the type of personality you have, how you appear to others and what ways you can improve your handwriting. Is your penmanship legible? Do you need to work on your signature? Handwriting experts and examiners can help with this. They may hold classes and lessons to help people improve their penmanship. Board-certified forensic document examiners can be found through referrals or through simple internet or phone book searches. This profession is relatively new, at least in the forensics sense. Rather than simply providing identification, examination and comparison, forensic document experts offer a bit more information and analysis than handwriting experts. They may examine signatures for authenticity in order to eliminate potential suspects or detect forgery, plus they can appear in court to testify about the authenticity of certain handwritten and even computer generated documents. They can, therefore, detect counterfeits as well as alterations made to documents through their analysis. Also called graphology, handwriting analysis dates back centuries, to a time when experts felt that a person’s handwriting could form their psychological profile, ultimately comprising their mental character. This analysis focuses on angles of upstrokes and down strokes, pressure, speed, interruptions and variations. Today, experts utilize software to aid them with their jobs.

Handwriting exerts offer an analysis of penmanship to determine the authorship of a document or detect a forgery. Some handwriting experts not only offer forensic identification services, but also claim that reading a person's penmanship tells them things about that person's psychology. If you need a handwriting analysis, then you will need to know how to choose an expert that can give you the services that you need at a reasonable cost. If you follow these guidelines then you should be able to determine which signature examiners have the graphology skills that you need. When you first contact the examiners, you will want to determine how much experience they have with cursive identification, altered signatures, and document authorship. A good way to do this is to ask them how long they have been in business. If they have several years of experience then they should be able to identify typefaces and freehand penmanship. Ask the handwriting experts if they have ever worked with the police department or another agency to help them determine if a document is a forgery or if a signature has been altered. If they have worked with a law enforcement agency several times, then they should have lots of experience to draw from. Ask the examiners where they took lessons in handwriting analysis to help you determine if they have received good training. You should also ask them if they offer any free services and get price quotes so that you can choose one that matches your budget.
