A handy person, commonly called a handy man, is a general term used to refer to anyone who can perform several repair and maintenance tasks, such as extra help around the home, as well as assistance with household chores, yard care, plumbing problems, and electronic repair. If you need to replace windows in your home but don't want to do it yourself, you can hire a hand person or handy man to help. Handy person services can also provide gutter installation, leak repair, yard and garden maintenance, and general household task help. Whether you want someone to build a shed in your backyard, or someone to fix a leak in your bathroom, a handy person service may be your answer. Many handy people do these jobs on the side, such as on the weekends, for a little extra cash. If you need someone with more qualifications to, say, build an addition on your home, or help with installing siding, you may want to contact a general contractor instead. Residential contractors deal with everything from architecture and custom construction home plans, to installing manufactured wood working, siding, and lighting. General contractors oversee a house construction project from beginning to end, whether it's a large-scale project on a home, or a small add-on to a mobile or modular home. For smaller jobs, try a handy person service. You can find such services in online directories by entering your zip code or town, or simply look in your local phone book for services that specialize in the type of projects you need.
