Terms Associated with Children’s Homes

As the term orphanage has fallen out of favor, it has been replaced by the more positive title of children’s home. However, the services they provide are much the same – taking care of kids who are orphans, or whose parents are unable to care for them due to death, illness, abandonment or other issues. These homes can also assist with adoption and foster home placement. Many children’s homes are run by faith-based organizations, such as the Methodist and Baptist churches.
