Insect Control Devices FAQs
Insect control devices have made great technological advances over the years, making them a great resource to keep your business or home free of pets and rodents. Consider the following frequently asked questions to decide if an insect control device is a good fit for your needs:

How do they work?
The functionality of the device will depend upon the animal or bug that is being lured. However, many work on a few basic principles. First, the device is fitted with some sort of attractant. This can be pheromone scent, ultra violet light, or bait that smells like food. Then, once the pest is attracted to the device, it is either killed by electricity or poison. Some devices are plugged in, while others require no electricity.

Why can't the technicians just spray for the bugs?
There are some bugs that infest areas that cannot be treated with traditional insecticide spray. For example, roaches, bedbugs, and spiders are not deterred by common pest control spray because they either fly, infest by way of accomplice, or simply don't interact enough with the poison to be deterred. An electronic device will block the infestation with scents or sounds, or treat an infestation in a similar fashion.

What other types of pests can be deterred by these devices?
While ants, bed bugs, mosquitoes, and roaches may be common ailments, rodents are also treated by most pest control companies. This includes rats, mice, squirrels, raccoons, and other small animals. Talk to your service provider about your options for both rodent and insect control.

If you have an insect infestation at your home, you need insect control devices. There are repellents of all types, including natural and non toxic solutions. For flying bugs attracted to light, there are electric zappers, which consist of a light that hangs from a hook, attracting bugs and zapping them upon contact, killing them. Mosquitoes can be more than annoying—they can carry diseases as well, like malaria. It is important to have a repellant with you if you are going camping or if you live in a marshy environment, where these bugs thrive. For flies, you can go with the old fashioned, and still effective, fly swatter, or you can get a product, like a fly trap, which kills many without any effort on your part. They are similar to a zapper in that they hang from a high point, attracting and killing; only, fly traps tend to be some sort of sticky surface as opposed to a deadly light. Bee hives require their own type of control device. If the hive is too imposing of a threat to handle on your own, contact a company that sends professional bee keepers. Start your search for traps and repellents, natural or not, online. You will see that you can order products from websites, or visit store locations. Keep in mind that while you wait for something to ship from an internet company, your spiders spread, ants advance, and roaches roam wherever they like. To defend yourself immediately, visit a store and go back home, ready to exterminate. If you don't have a bug problem, and want to keep it that way, consider buying an insect prevention product.
