Tips for Selecting Interior Decorating and Design Supplies
If you are an interior designer or decorator, or are simply embarking on a DIY project for your own home, finding retailers and wholesalers for supplies can be critical. The following tips will help you get started:

Tip #1: Consider budgetary restrictions.
If you are establishing a relationship with various companies for your clients, it is important to remember that you will be working on projects that can drastically range in budget. For this reason, it is important to create contacts with both economically priced establishments and higher-end boutiques. Furthermore, a lower budget will not automatically rule out a purchase from a more expensive store. A signature focal piece in a room can be a dramatic statement and can make the rest of the items in the room look more expensive.

Tip #2: Find artisans that do both commercial and custom work.
Commercial items are going to be a staple in nearly any room design or renovation construction. Furniture, decor, carpeting and artwork will often come from a retail collection. However, for unique pieces, oddly shaped or sized homes, or for the very particular client, having a custom artisan on your speed dial can be just as important.

Tip #3: Think outside the box.
Most importantly, perhaps, it can be important to think about non traditional means for supplies during your next interior decorating or design project. Antique shops are a great place to find repurposed items, of course, but you can also seek inspiration and material tips from fashion magazines, parks, museums, and other stimulating places.
