Wholesale Liquor Terms to Know

Liquor is an intoxicating distilled beverage that includes a higher amount of alcohol than beer or wine. Liquor is often sold by wholesale distributors in stores where customers can buy an entire bottle instead of just a drink or two that they would buy at a bar.   • Vodka - A distilled beverage made by grains and potatoes. It is traditionally made in Russia and while there are cheap domestic versions of vodka many stores may also sell direct imports. It usually has forty percent alcohol content.
  • Tequila - A distilled beverage made from the blue agave plant. It is a traditional drink of Mexico. It's alcohol content varies from thirty to fifty percent.
  • Whiskey - Liquor that is made from barely, wheat and corn, as well as other grains. It is traditionally aged in wooden casks. In the United States, moonshine whiskey was often available during Prohibition and although it is outlawed today, it is still often made in many rural areas. However, moonshine is not for sale at retail stores.
