Machine Shop Equipment Terms

Machine shop equipment incorporates specialized and complex terminology. Here are some terms that you might encounter when looking for machine shop supplies.

  • Abrasive Wheel - A wheel with an abrasive edge for various types of purposes, including grinding, refinishing and polishing. These are used for car bodies and welding.

  • Diamond Cutting Tool - A cutting tool with diamonds fixed on an abrasive edge. Since diamond is an extremely hard material, it serves to cleanly cut and grind all types of metal.'
