Wholesale Mason Contractor Equipment and Supplies Terminology

Professional masonry contractors require certain types of equipment and supplies to build brick walls, lay foundations, and handle stonework tasks. Wholesale dealers and distributors sell these supplies in bulk at discounted rates. This allows mason contractors and construction company locations to buy the equipment, hand tools, mortar mix, and concrete saws that are needed for this industry. In order to become more familiar with masonry supplies and contractor equipment for this field, check out the terminology found below.

  • Aggregate – This is an inert material that is combined with cement, water, and lime. It is used to create mortar or grout for building brick walls or patios. Aggregate typically looks like a combination of gravel rocks and stone fragments.
  • Basalt – A dense, rigid and dark volcanic rock that is commonly used as a building stone or paving stone material. In other words, basalt is often found in roads, driveways, and some commercial structures.
  • Bush Hammer – A unique hammer that is often used my mason contractors. This tool has a face or head with a square pattern of protruding teeth. These sharp points are used to dress a stone or concrete surface.
  • Dry Pack – This is a combination or mixture of fine aggregate and Portland cement. It is dampened when used, but not to the point where it is flowing. Dry pack is typically three parts sand and one part Portland cement. It is one of the most common types of cement used.
  • Fire Clay – A type of clay material that is very resistant to heat. It is used for making bricks, which are commonly used for residential and commercial construction. This material does not deform when exposed to heat.

Construction companies and masonry contractors that build structures out of bricks and stone need to purchase equipment and supplies that help them do their work properly. If you own a masonry company or construction supply store, then you might be able to save money by purchasing products from a wholesale distributor that offers bulk discounts. Wholesalers that sell masonry equipment and supplies should have many of the products that you need to build solid structures. They often have trowels, saws, and mortar mixers that will help you lay brick and stone by hand. They should also have machines from manufacturers that can make work much easier, so that you can concentrate on doing your job well. Of course, not all mason contractor supply wholesalers will offer the same types of products. Some of the companies will have equipment and supplies that suit your needs better than others. It is, therefore, important to explore your options to choose a company that provides the services and products that you need for your business. The company that you choose often depends on the types of services that you offer your clients. If you prefer to lay stone by hand and distribute concrete with a manual trowel, then you might want to choose a wholesaler that has bulk discounts for these items. If you prefer using machines when you work, then you might want to find a wholesaler that has a wide variety of automated tools. You can also learn more about the companies by talking to other contractors and supply stores in your area to find out which ones they buy from.
