Terms to Know Regarding Meat Products

Meat products come from all types of livestock, including beef, pork and poultry. They are typically sold in different cuts that come from various parts of the animal.   • Poultry – Poultry products are made from the meat of birds. Typically, this includes chickens, quail and ducks, but it can also include poultry like turkeys and geese. Poultry can be bought whole, or can be sold in pieces, such as thighs, legs and breasts.
  • Venison – Venison meat comes from deer. It is a red meat like beef, but as venison is not a farmed meat it is seldom sold in grocery stores.
