  • Doublewide – Doublewides are two manufactured houses bolted together and treated as a single permanent dwelling.
  • HUD Code – The HUD code refers to the Federal Manufactured Home Construction Safety Standards set forth by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in 1976.
  • Manufactured Home – A manufactured house is a property whose sale can function like an on-site house, meaning that it can be financed through a home loan mortgage. These are built in a factory and must conform to the HUD code.
  • Mobile Home – Strictly defined, a mobile home is any manufactured house built before the HUD codes of 1976. This term, along with the term "trailer home," is commonly still used to describe any factory-built, manufactured houses.

  • Mobile Community – Formerly called a trailer park, a mobile community is a subdivision of plots designated for manufactured homes.   • RV – An RV, or recreational vehicle, is a motor home that contains a kitchen, bathroom, living room and bedroom. People travel in these for recreational purposes and park them in RV parks. You will often find them for sale or rent in classified ads.
