When most people think about mobile homes, their mind is automatically drawn to a trailer park. You may not think of a house as being modular, but they are often the most economical choice for many people.   • Prefabricated Modular Home – An affordable, pre-built structure that looks like a regular house. A builder will construct the home off site and deliver the final product to its destination. Some areas do not allow people to manufacture homes and put them on a property, so it's best to check with your county to see if this is something you can pursue. In your search, start by checking out a dealer that specializes in these types of homes. A dealer will be able to walk you through the process of purchasing and installing.
  • Kit Home – A kit company will manufacture the basic shell of a house, with the door and window openings already cut out. They can be customized to your specifications, and often lead to less cost than purchasing a conventional home or modular structure.
  • Trailer Park – Ideal for older couples that want a quiet community or for low-income families. Trailer parks have a layout plan much like a campground, and are outfitted with mobile homes of all shapes and sizes.
