About Moving Self Service
If you are moving, you have probably considered hiring a company to help you with the move. While the idea of letting someone else pack and load up your things and drive them across town is attractive, it can also be very expensive. Instead, why not consider managing the move yourself? You can rent a truck, pickup or van for cheap, and then box up your home decor and furniture and off you go. You could also consider getting a home storage container that you fill up, and then a truck comes, attaches the unit like a trailer, and does the hauling part for you. Of course, it depends on how far the distance is between your old house and your new one. If you are moving locally, you could rent a van and move your household in a few trips, but if you moving a long distance you may want a big trailer that can hold all your furniture and belongings in one trip. Self service moving is not just for residential moves either. You could also rent a truck to move your business from a small office to a large commercial facility if you are a young business that is rapidly expanding. Then you can use the savings to find more clients. You should be careful that you are physically capable of moving yourself though, as many of your items may be very heavy. You might also consider if you feel comfortable driving a van or truck. If you are able and willing though, you can save a lot of money by moving your own things.

When people move from one place to another, they must move all of their belongings, often hiring expensive movers to pack, load and transport their furniture and other belongings. A new trend gives people another option when moving. Self-service moving takes the high expense out of moving and the liability of movers breaking your delicate items. Self-service companies offer your choice of large crates or trailers. The crates or trailers are placed in your yard, then you pack your items and place them in the container. When you're ready to move, the company transports the full container to your new residence or office. This can save money in the long run, and gives you control over the handling of your belongings, many of which can contain antiques, art, pianos, and other precious items. If you are moving to another home, your real estate agent may be able to recommend a self-service moving company, or ask friends and family what companies they have used in the past. You can find self-service moving companies by searching your local phone book or browsing online directory listings. Many self-service companies have websites, where you can look at photos of various sizes of containers. When contacting a self-service moving company, inquire about rental information and rate quotes. Ask how long the container is available to you as well.
