  • House Tech – This is a professional that specializes in musical performances and getting them booked and organized properly. The house technician has the venue, and understands the specifics about sound, the building’s power, acoustics, proper lighting, and how to get the instruments set up on stage.
  • Crossfader – This is a control found on a DJ mixer. It slides left to right in order to allow the DJ to change back and forth between two channels. The crossfader is connected to a CD player, record player, or MP3 device. This control essentially allows for a smooth transition between songs or tracks.
  • Power Chord – A chord that consists of one powerful note. It is often used in rock songs or by heavy metal singers. Hardcore punk bands also use power chords, and often with some vocal distortion.
  • Stompbox – Often used by musicians and live entertainment bands, this is an electronic, portable effect unit. It typically has a foot-switch that turns it on and off, and it is used to alter the sounds of musical instruments, such as guitars.
  • Event Venue – This is the location where a band or live entertainment group performs. It is often a concert hall, local dance club, wedding reception, or party.
