National Guard
The National Guard is essentially a reserve military force for the United States. This militia is regulated by the US government, and is composed of members all over the country. Although members of the National Guard may be inactive at times, the federal government can activate this group if needed, in order to assist the United States Air Force and Army. As you may know, there is an Army National Guard of the United States, as well as an Air Force National Guard of the United States. Many people that join the National Guard only have to give up one weekend each month for training. This way they can be better prepared if they should be called on by the US government for active defense or to go into battle. Each unit is trained physically and prepared through specific teachings. Every state has offices that recruit soldiers for the National Guard. These military reserve forces may stay inactive for many years. However, members still get paid as if it were continued employment. As a recruit or military officer, you can literally get deployed into combat at any time. It is easy to learn more about the National Guard, Army reserve, coast guard, and US armory by accessing the web. Online there is an official website for the United States military and National Guard, which informs people of how to join. You can additionally visit recruiting offices in your town or city to learn more about this process directly from military professionals.

The National Guard is a good option for those who want to join the military but are more interested in domestic active duty. While some recruits can be sent overseas during international conflicts and wars, most Army and Air Force National Guard units focus on locations in the United States. If you are interested in recruiting, then you should contact your state enlistment center. They can give civilians information about the Army units that might interest you. Be sure to get information about all of the different branches of the military so that you can be sure to join the unit that interests you the most. After you contact the National Guard recruitment office, it is a good idea to also contact the US Marine, Army, and Navy offices in your area so that you can learn more about the organizations' layout, drills, armory, and where you could be deployed during active duty. Since the US does not have mandatory military service requirements for civilians, you can choose to join any branch that you are interested in. Once you have joined, though, you will have to complete your duty so you need to be sure that you have enlisted in the branch that is right for you. If you are interested in serving on a part time basis, then you should ask the recruitment office about joining the National Guard Reserves. Most reserves are only active a few days out of the month so that they can serve their country while pursuing an education and careers.
