FAQs About Outsourcing Services
Are you considering outsourcing a part of your business, but don't know where to start? The following questions are often asked by business owners just getting into outsourcing services.

Are all outsourcing jobs performed overseas?
No. When many people think of outsourcing, they think of the stereotypical large call centers in India, where customer service representatives do the same work as their American counterparts for less than half the cost. The truth is that many companies use outsourcing as a viable business strategy both locally and globally. For example, a company is developing a new product, but they do not manufacture some of the necessary parts. Of course, they could open up their own manufacturing division, but this costs a lot of money. Many companies choose to save money by outsourcing their manufacturing to another company.

Do only big businesses outsource?
No. In fact, one of the most rapidly growing outsourced jobs is that of a personal assistant. Consider for a moment that many small business owners working out of their homes are totally swamped with running their business. They often don't have time to answer the phones right away, or check their email, and so their business suffers. For this reason, many choose to outsource and use a virtual assistant. A VA does all the work of a personal assistant electronically from the comfort of their home. This saves the business owner time and makes their company appear quite professional.

What jobs are usually outsourced?
The most common outsourced jobs are the ones that are not easy to do within the company, like manufacturing, or can easily be done through a computer, like a virtual assistant. Take a look at your business plan. Is money being spent for in-house work that could be saved by outsourcing jobs?

When trying to find outsourcing services, there are many resources available. These outsource services assist you by providing a workforce that can help your business run, without having to hire additional staff—a service that is also known as subcontracting. This is a way for these companies to increase revenue, or provide services to their customers that they would not otherwise be able to provide. One main aspect that businesses will outsource for is IT or technology. Often times, companies to not have the knowledge, software, or resources to set up an entire IT staff, and so will find an outside provider to get this service instead. Businesses, actually, outsource many different aspects of their company, from human resources to data entry, from accounting to customer service departments. Some companies choose to use offshore outsourcing, which can help consumers by achieving a lower overall sales cost. By using an offshore provider, businesses can also avoid some high tax costs that might be incurred for a particular project. Therefore, if you are looking for BPO (business process outsourcing) for your sales or marketing department, try looking online. There should be many companies that you can pull up. A few of them might offer a specific BPO service that will meet your needs, like an HR department or management team, while others may just offer services like a general workforce. Contact a few of the different companies that you run across and see what they can do to meet your needs. Be sure to evaluate customer service abilities, check out references, and compare the costs of different businesses. If you are not satisfied, move on. Remember, you might have to do the research, but there are many businesses out there that want to contract with you.
