In order to find the right professional pool service provider to assist with an indoor spa or outdoor above ground pool, it is important to understand what this type of cleaning service involves. As you may know, many services clean pool water, maintain filters, repair pumps, and add necessary chemicals to heated pools and spas. Below you will find a list of terms that will help you understand this type of service.

  • Pool Cover – This is a vinyl lid or cover that is placed over a pool or spa when it is not in use in order to keep out dirt and debris.
  • Spa Chemicals – Chlorine, salt, and other chemicals are commonly added to indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs in order to maintain a healthy pH in the water as well as kill bacteria.
  • Pool Resurface and Repair – The plaster or tile surfaces in swimming pools tends to wear out and then requires resurfacing with epoxy or other coatings and liners.
  • Heated Pool – This is essentially an outdoor, deck, or indoor pool that is heated by a heating element and maintained by a pump and filter so that the water can remain at a constant temperature.
  • Spa – A hot tub with jets that is heated, used to sit and relax in.
  • Pool Equipment – Tools and devices used to fish leaves and debris from the pool water as well as to maintain filters and repair diving boards, ladders or water slides.
  • Pump Parts – Replacement products or parts used to repair or maintain the automatic pumps used in swimming pools and spas.

    Nothing beats a nice swim in the crisp, clean waters of a pool on a hot day, whether it's a private pool at home or a public one at the local community center. Like all structures, swimming structures need to regular repair to maintain them properly. It's thought that the first pool dates back all the way to the third millennium B.C. The structures became popular with the ancient Greeks, Romans, and the Sri Lankans before coming to Britain in the 19th century. It grew in popularity and clubs started appearing all over Europe. It wasn't until after World War II when Hollywood started glorifying water sports in movies that outdoor residential structures became a status symbol. Most private and public structures are made from concrete, though vinyl liner, fiberglass and tile are also popular materials to use during construction. Private structures are usually built into, under, or around a deck and are maintained by the home owners. They can be above or in the ground. Many recreational centers have more than one public pool, including indoor heated structures, spas, and outdoor saltwater or chemically chlorinated structures. All pools and spas require filters, water pumps, and other parts to be clean along with covers for winterization. Diving boards, slides, ladders, and other equipment are reserved for larger structures. If the structure needs repair, epoxy and plaster may be needed to resurface a drained basin.
