FAQs About Postal Services
The following questions are commonly asked when dealing with postal services:

What are the different types of mail?
The postal service ships mail according to its postage type. Standard mail is a basic service that many businesses use to ship flyers and advertisements to their customers. Its postage cost is low, but the mail takes longer to get to its destination than other classes. First-class mail and priority mail are faster than standard mail, but these services are also more expensive. The most expensive of all is express mail, often called overnight mail. Businesses use express mail when they have documents that must get to their destination by tomorrow.

Should a business have a PO box?
There are many benefits to using a post office box, or PO box, for your business correspondence. If you have a small business and work from home, a PO box gives you a business address different from your residential one. Packages can also be dropped off and signed for at your PO box location without you having to be there, saving you from hanging around your office all day waiting for the postman.

Is postage determined by weight or size?
Both. For example, take the small difference between first-class and priority mail. If a package is in a mailing envelope and weighs less than 13 ounces, then it ships as first-class mail. However, if the envelope weighs more than 13 ounces, it becomes priority mail, and you must pay the slightly higher shipping fee due to its extra weight. Keep both weight and size in mind when sending items through the mail.

Postal service providers offer connection to anywhere in the world you might want to send something. While the United States postal service (USPS) is always available for stamps, parcel delivery, money orders, forwarding services, change of address forms and services, and other services, other parcel and package postal services are available as well. Some of these service providers will offer such services as delivery drop-off, pick up, package tracking, priority delivery, inspection, insurance, moving services, change of address forms, express shipping, bulk mail delivery, and more. Other services might include certified mail, priority shipping, postage, P.O. Box, courier services, overnight shipping, and more. If you're in need of postal services, consider the tips here to find the best postal service. First, go online and search for such keywords as “post office,” “United States postage,” and “stamps.” This should bring up a variety of services available to you for your postal needs. To narrow the results, consider adding your zip code to the search to find a post office or service nearby. While you're there, browse their services available, rates, and hours of operation. If you're impressed with their services and rates, consider calling for more information or visiting in person. Beware! Post offices can be chaotic places during the holidays, so be prepared to wait in lines. Ask if they offer overnight services, insurance, and certified mail. The post office and postal services are available to connect you with the rest of the world. Be sure you feel confident about your service provider before committing, and be sure you're satisfied with the customer service ¬¬– the last thing you want is your package to be lost and receive no help at all!
