Important Refrigeration Equipment Terms
Refrigerators are a ubiquitous feature in nearly every household in the US. Eventually, many of these appliances need parts. These can be purchased from suppliers and manufacturers that specialize in these devices. Here are some key terms regarding these appliances.
Condenser – This is a set of tubes that have fins attached to them. A high-pressure refrigerant flows through from the compressor, chilling the system. It is usually mounted on the back or under the machine. It accumulates heat around it, so some models include a fan that draws air in to dissipate it from the fins. After the liquid refrigerant has been stored for a time in the condenser, it is forced through the capillary tube. When this device goes out, it can be purchased new or used from an appliance manufacturer or parts supplier.
Evaporator – This receives refrigerant from the capillary tube, causing the evaporator pressure to drop. This allows the refrigerant to go back into a gaseous state, absorbing external warmth to refrigerate the area and cause the humidity in the environment to freeze. The fan inside the compartment circulates the air, keeping the environment refrigerated.
Compressor – This is the engine the runs the unit. It compresses low-pressure gas into a high-pressure gas and runs due to changes in the internal environment.
Capillary Tube – This equipment is a metering device that is made from copper. It connects the condenser to the evaporator and controls the flow and pressure of the refrigerant as it enters the evaporator.
Thermostat – This equipment is stored in the control panel that is usually installed in the roof of the refrigerator. It is used to regulate the interior temperature by having a set point. Once the set point is fixed, the thermostat switches cooling devices on or off.
Refrigeration equipment is used to keep items cold, from food to the air around us. Manufacturers of refrigeration equipment, supplies, and parts make and sell a variety of items. They distribute air conditioning units, chillers, compressors and temperature gauges. They generally employ technicians who can repair refrigeration equipment, including freezers, ice machines, appliances and water cooling units. For those units covered by a warranty, the repair services would be free.
Customers may be able to obtain direct-from-manufacturer pricing when buying lots of equipment at once. Suppliers also typically sell parts necessary for the machines and systems they offer. Many have sites that you can use to search for parts, such as heat pumps and vales with specific model numbers.
Many manufacturers boast used product selections, which consist of slightly used parts and supplies offered at a discounted price. Different types of equipment are needed to refrigerate different things. Some companies sell to the convenience store and supermarket sector, offering refrigerated food cases and freezer cases for frozen foods. Other wholesalers sell to florists, offering flower cases. And still other suppliers focus on industrial and commercial cooler and chiller units. Restaurants, supermarkets, bakeries, convenience stores and schools all require sufficient refrigeration equipment to keep food frigid.
Customers searching for wholesalers and manufacturers often have regular contracts with companies in the industry, who supply them with the necessary energy efficient parts, machines, and supplies they need to operate refrigeration equipment. If not, they can search for suggested companies through business referrals or scan online sites for those that offer what they need in their area.
