Tips for Researching for School Information
If you are moving, changing school districts, or simply want to learn more about your child's public or private learning institution, there are a few things you can do to gauge the quality and success levels of that school. The following important tips will help get you started, whether you are researching a daycare, K-12 program, or private school:

Tip #1: Ask about the school's credentials.
One of the first things to do is to ask about the school's accreditation. Each state requires schools to maintain a set of standards in order to remain in good standing and receive state and federal funding. Calling the superintendent's office should get you thins information quickly, but there are also sites online that can provide the information if the offices are closes or not forthcoming.

Tip #2: Look for any recent school closures or openings in the districts.
Another indirect piece of information can come from any recent changes to the school's lineup. For example, learning that several elementary schools have recently closed may mean that those schools were not performing to standards. It can also mean that the remaining schools will see an increase in enrollment and more crowding in the classroom. A closed school can also be the result of budget cuts, and this can impact your child as well. Conversely, a recent remodeling or school opening may mean good things for that particular district.

Tip #3: Talk to friends, family members, or even realtors.
If you don't have any friends or family in the area, a realtor is a great source for learning the inside scoop about local districts.
