Retail Seed and Bulb Terms

When properly maintained, seeds and bulbs will grow into plants. These may include a variety of flowers, fruits and vegetables. While some individuals will want to start a garden in their backyard, others may want to construct a greenhouse. Retail locations will sell bulbs and seeds to prospective growers. A retail nursery is another location where plants are grown, but individuals here can buy bulbs and seeds. A company may operate a retail nursery and sell specific types of plants. Many home gardeners will purchase the landscaping products they needs for their vegetable garden, flower bed, or fruit tree orchard. From these retailers, you can purchase seeds, fertilizer and soil for your garden. A catalog is often available for individuals to see what types of plants are available. Whether someone is growing peppers and tomatoes or feminized seeds, they will need to be familiar with the terms within the farming and agricultural industry.

  • Tulips - A tulip is a spring-blooming flower and the bulbs are planted deep under the soil in the fall.
  • Organic Seeds - Both fruits and vegetables can grow from organic seeds. These seeds are not treated with any synthetic fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides.
  • Lily - A lily is a colorful plant that grows during the summer and requires minimal care. The bulbs don't have any protective covering and are made of fleshy, overlapping scales.
  • Greenhouse - A greenhouse is an indoor structure where plants are grown. The ceilings and walls are made of glass and plastic, which allow the plants to absorb light from the sun.

Retail seeds and bulbs are distributed through countless garden centers and catalogs these days. While bulbs are often planted in soil to grow flowers, seeds can be used for growing a variety of plants, organic vegetables, and herbs. Some common bulbs sold in retail garden centers and nursery shops are tulips, hyacinths, and lily flowers. Plenty of residential homeowners buy these bulbs, seeds, and plants every season in order to plant them in a garden or around their homes. As you may know, there are plenty of flowers, plants, shrubs and trees involved with gardening and landscaping. For instance, some of the vegetable seeds people seek out from retail nurseries are tomatoes, peppers, and radishes. There are also plenty of fruit trees available that produce apples, lemons, and oranges. However, they do require a certain amount of care, as well as the right climate. One aspect of planting seeds and bulbs is feminized plants. This is something that occurs when seeds are exposed to ethylene gas. It is a process often discussed in regards to marijuana. Depending on what you are trying to plant or grow, there is likely a retail garden center nearby that offers the bulbs and seeds you need. It is always a good idea to turn to a nearby greenhouse or nursery company if you have any questions or concerns about specific plants, soil products, herbs or flower bulbs. This way you can ask specific questions and receive the answers you need to proceed with your garden or landscaping.
