Shoes are a necessary part of everyone’s wardrobe. Every year, many get worn out or grown out of and many are lost or damaged. If you have recently found yourself in need of new footwear, consider shopping for alternate designs. If you are interested in trying out a new style, here is a list of terms that may be helpful for you.
Oxfords – This is laced and has a V shaped slit in its upper. It is often made of leather and is considered to be a dress shoe.
Brogues – This is often referred to as a wing tip, because the toe has a perforated panel that goes down either side.
Cap Toe – This is when a cap of material covers the toe. This is usually made of the material that constructs the rest of the footwear. This design can be found on boots, flats, and a variety of other designs.
High Heels – This is footwear that raises the back of the sole up. It is a dressier style and is usually worn by women to formal events. One type is called a stiletto. These have a very narrow post that bears the weight of the back of the foot. Some boots also have this design.
Ballet Flats – This is footwear that is very close to the ground and has very little sole. They are a more casual style and are modeled after ballet footwear, which is comfortable and flexible. These are very popular with women and kids.
Sandal – This is an open type of outdoor footwear. It is made from suede, plastic, rubber and other materials. Sandals usually have a flexible sole and straps that keep the foot in place. Usually, the upper part of the foot and toes will be exposed. They are popular with kids and adults.
Shoes are functional, as they are protective coverings for the feet, but they are also so much more than that. They make a fashion statement, whether bold and colorful, or muted and understated. Shoes can be casual or dressy, bare as in sandals, or full coverage as in knee-high boots.
Wholesalers sell in bulk to retailers and other consumers. People need certain shoes for certain aspects of living. Some are soft and pliable, for ballet dancing, for instance. Still others may not really be comfortable at all, but make a pretty good fashion statement, in the case of designer high heels. Shoes can be purchased at a cheap discount, especially as part of out-of-season closeouts or clearance deals.
Consumers have a variety of options available to them when buying men's, women's, and kids' shoes. They can head to a department store, shoe store, wholesale outlet, or online site to find what they need for their toddlers or spouses. An athletic store or sports shop may sell lots of running sneakers, tennis shoes, and cleats, for example. An outdoor wholesaler may sell hiking boots for men, women, and kids. A ladies' shoe store may sell wedges, heels, dance shoes, sandals, and dress shoes.
Shoe stores can be found in malls everywhere, ranging in price from cheap to expensive. Hit up wholesalers when purchasing many shoes at once, to get bulk discounts. Sizes run the gamut, from baby sizes to big and tall. Many stores and online sites offer custom design packages, which come in handy for people who have very wide or narrow feet.
Our primitive ancestors made protective foot coverings many years ago out of plaited grass or rawhide with straps to secure them. Today, you'll find shoes made with just about any material, from suede and leather to canvas and rubber.
