In the United States, there are social and human services offered in most cities. These are essentially government-regulated services that are provided to the community.   • Child Protective Services – This is a government-regulated division that investigates reports of child abuse, as well as child neglect. Services are provided to children and families in their homes, and some kids are often placed in foster care or adoptive homes.
  • Child Support Enforcement Division – An agency that functions in each state to locate non-custodial parents. This agency keeps track of child support payment court orders, and assists with collecting and distributing these funds accordingly.
  • Family Counseling Services – These are services provided to the public to assist families with problems like abuse, depression, and drug use. Although some family counseling services are non-profit and available to the public free of charge, others do charge a fee for profit.
