  • Rear Projection – This type of technology uses a picture that is created from a video signal and, using a bright beam of light, magnifies it onto the display. This system is wholly contained inside the device and is only found in big sets. These were very popular and, up until the mid 2000s, used in many homes. They still offer a very cost effective alternative to newer model liquid crystal displays.
  • HDTV – HDTVs have video resolution that is much clearer and higher than ordinary devices. Compared to standard displays, it has five times the pixels per frame.
  • LCD – This is a type of flat screen or electronic visual display that consists of liquid crystals. The liquid crystals use light modulating properties, though they do not emit light directly. They have replaced cathode ray tube displays in things like video players and telephones, and are used frequently in televisions. They are more efficient and use less power than traditional methods, making them a perfect option for bigger devices.
  • Plasma – This is a type of display common in large sets. Electronically charged ionized gases are utilized in this type of technology. Essentially, these are tiny fluorescent lamps inside tiny chambers. The picture quality is very clear.
  • Panel – These devices can be as thin as 3 inches and are a very popular option with many households. Most modern models come designed this way because they are lighter and thinner than traditional models.
