Trailers for camping and travel defined

The term trailers is applied to a wide variety of recreational vehicles. They provide living quarters while traveling or camping, so instead of relying on a tent or hotel rooms, you can sleep in the trailer. Traditionally trailers were hooked up to the back of the family car for vacation. Now, modern trailers like motor homes are their own vehicles, and you can hitch the family car to the back of this trailer. If you are looking to buy or rent a trailer, there are a wide variety available. Some common types are defined below.

  • Folding Camping Trailer – Provide living quarters for camping. The components are folded down while the trailer is moving. Once it is time to set up camp, the parts are popped out. Usually this type will have some type of bed, cooking area and bathroom.
  • Teardrop Camping Trailer – Made from fiberglass, this type of trailer gets its name from its teardrop shape. Smaller than a folding trailer, it usually contains a bed, storage and place to plug in electrical appliances.
  • Travel Trailer – This trailer is larger than the other camping trailers and usually takes a truck to haul it. It is made of fiberglass and offer more spacious living quarters than the smaller camping trailers. They also have tented awnings for outdoor areas. Because it can be parked in campgrounds it is also called a park trailer.
  • Fifth Wheel Trailer – Trailers similar in style to travel trailers, but with an additional wheel placed over the carriage to allow for better maneuverability and turning.
  • Recreational Vehicles – Sometimes called RV's or motor homes, recreational vehicles are the ultimate in traveling and camping luxury. They are shaped like buses but designed like travel trailers so that they provide living quarters to the occupants.

Camping and travel trailers are fun additions to any vacation with family or friends. They're portable, they're easy to hook up, and aside from the initial cost, they translate to cheap trips at campgrounds. Consumers can find trailers, RVs, and pop-ups at dealerships that sell all types of campers. Other inventory items may include coaches, motorhomes, haulers, 5th wheels, and cargo supplies. They may also sell accessories such as tents, boat hitches, car attachments, and ATV accessories. Larger travel trailers and RVs will have beds, running water, showers, cooking areas, and bathrooms. Smaller campers and pop-ups usually have spots for sleeping, small storage areas, and even small refrigerators. And for those who prefer to sleep in a tent, these camping accessories can be found at trailer dealerships or at an outdoor sports shop. Some dealers sell both new and used portable campers, folding trailers, and even landscaping trailers. When you head out camping, you'll be all set with plenty of shelter and accessories to make your vacation in the great outdoors comfortable. Customers can test drive a camper just like they would any other vehicle. Prices depend on size, brand, model year, and other variables, such as rentals or purchases. Trailers of all kinds have been around for years, from motorcycle trailers to folding ones. Campers are especially popular with families and large groups of friends, as they can fit many people at once, provide adequate shelter from the elements, and can be moved easily from one place to another. Camping enthusiasts can experience the outdoors away from home, and save money at the same time, as renting space at a camp site is relatively inexpensive.
