Important Terms about Electrolysis Treatments

Electrolysis is increasingly popular among those looking for permanent hair removal. It can target and remove hair from various parts of the body. It can be used by men and women alike. But before you seek out a clinic for hair removal, you should first become familiar with the terminology employed in the field of electrolysis.

  • Electrolysis - The name given for several related methods of permanent hair removal. Electrolysis uses sterile needles to destroy hair follicles with tiny jolts of electricity. If properly performed, this technique prevents hair from ever growing back. In this, electrolysis differs significantly from laser hair removal. Laser treatments, though they may be preferable for temporary hair reduction, do not necessarily kill the follicle.

  • Esthetician - A cosmetologist who specializes in skin care, often employed in spas and salons. Estheticians often perform hair reduction treatments.
