Truck Stops and Plazas
Truck stops and plazas are convenient, accessible places where drivers of all kinds can stop to rest and get a bite to eat. They are usually located right off an interstate highway. Also called rest areas, truck stops are popular with truckers who are on long-haul jobs. They may entail simple parking lots with restrooms and vending machines, or they may involve fast food diners, restrooms, gas stations, gift shops, and even Internet café. Many rest areas double as visitor centers for that particular region. Visitors can learn about the area and pick up brochures and guides within a convenient kiosk regarding the tourist attractions nearby. Other types of rest areas are more for refueling, eating, and even spending the night. Many truckers pull over into truck stops to catch up on some much-needed rest. While there, they can also dig into a hearty meal at the nearby café. You’ll often see big rigs, 18-wheelers, travel trailers, and heavy-duty haulers parked at truck stops and plazas. You’ll see cars, motorcycles, and other vehicles as well. Facility operators may or may not be open all night. Many are, but some independent operators and providers still close the main diner or café late at night. Need some coffee for that long ride home? Are the kids craving chips and soda from the store? What about grabbing a brochure for that tourist attraction you intend to see? Head to the nearest truck stop and plaza provider, whether you’re HAZMAT trucker looking for more diesel fuel, or a family looking for restrooms to clean up. An industry popular with many drivers, truck stops and plazas are great places to stock up on food at the store, firm up your transportation plans, meet other people in your party, and fuel up at the gas station.

Truck stops and plazas will include providers of clean restrooms and restaurants for those that are on the road. Conveniently located, generally right off the interstate, they are easy to find simply by driving down the road. However, if you want to plan your trip to ensure you will arrive on time while still taking the necessary breaks, you can search the internet of phone book to map out where the stations are located on the highway with a specific type of facility you require. Transportation is a large industry which is why there are so many hazmats available today. Kiosks that have convenient merchandise for sale and cafes with refreshing beverages and food are important for operators to remain safe while out on the road. Parks that have bathroom facilities, stores, and diesel fuel can be found across the country with independent owners. Heavy vehicles, like rigs or 18 wheelers that haul large items will need a safe place to park during their breaks. Many highway truck stops have adequate parking that can be used to sleep in or just parked while the driver is eating, surfing the internet, or taking a quick coffee break. Trailer providers will often have a certain time a person needs to make a delivery, which is why those that are traveling on the road are in a rush when they're stopping to take a break. Stores and gas stations that are known to have good service in order to let people come in and leave quickly are good to know for when out on the road. Remember what plazas looked nice when you drove by even if you didn't have time to stop just for a future reference.
